Dropping leaves and lambs

Fall weather finally hit us this month! We love the cool crisp mornings and the tiny bit of fall color that we get here in southern Kentucky.

We had our first few lambs this past week and couldn’t be happier with the way this fall/winter lambing season has started. Lambing season is always an exciting and sometimes stressful time but it is worth it when you see a healthy baby lamb.

We are so very close to finishing the lambing facility! Just a few more pens need to be welded and some clean up. Once it is finished we will record a video tour so you all can see. Having the lambing facility is going to be so incredibly important during this fall/winter lambing season when the weather turns cold. Having a warm and dry place to give birth and rest for a day will help both the ewes and newborn lambs.

We love giving monthly updates about the happenings here at Winding Creek Farms but we would like to know what you want to hear about! Let us know any questions you have about our operation, the way we do something, or anything else you’d like to hear from us!

Our lambs get their belly button sprayed, moms number on their ear tag (in case anyone gets lost or mixed up!) and a few other boosters about a day after birth.
