Two Years Later

Two Years Later

We have been here for two years now! It is crazy to think of how far we have come and how different the property looks from when we bought it. I’m just going to give a little update on what has been happening recently!

1. We have over 100 lambs and still a small group of sheep left to lamb starting soon! We are loving all the babies and all the work that comes with it.

2. We are working hard to become GAP 4 certified. GAP stands for Global Animal Partnership and 4 is the level we are shooting for. Being certified will allow us to sell to places like Whole Foods! Here is the link if you’d like more info about the GAP certification : https://globalanimalpartnership.org/

3. We are preparing for our first farmer’s market season! We will be set up at the SoKY market in Bowling Green (by the baseball field) most Saturdays from 8-1pm. If you are local or in the area please stop by and see us!

4. Our property finally has a farm sign! We were lucky enough to receive a grant from KY proud that helped us get a farm sign and other promotional material for the farmer’s market. When farming, animals are always the first priority and other things to buy often get put on the back burner. We are so thankful for the grant that allowed us to get some non animal related items we have been wanting and needing.

5. We joined the cattleman’s association here in Monroe county! Yes, I know we don’t have cattle, but there isn’t a sheep producers association that we know of. This group will help us create more local agricultural connections.

6. We gave in and got a few livestock guardian dogs. Hoss and Copper joined the farm after we had our first Coyote accident. The dogs do a great job of marking their territory, barking when necessary, and looking after their sheep. Gracie joined the farm a little after the boys. Gracie used to look after goats and when all her goats were sold she needed new animals to protect.

We are excited for the spring and summer seasons and all that they will bring here on the farm! It’s also visitor season, so if you’d like to visit us - reach out!
