Teaser
We added four new rams to the flock! But they aren’t like our other boys. These new rams will help us find out which ewes aren’t bred instead of breeding them.
The new rams got vasectomies so they can not breed our ewes, but they still want to try. After our real rams have done their job we will put the new rams in the flock with marking harnesses on. They will be able to find the ewes that aren’t bred and will try to breed them. The crayon on their harness will leave a mark on the ewe so we can find her later.
The new boys will help speed up our lambing process. Before we have to wait until lambing to find out which ewes were not bred. Now, we will be able to tell much sooner and the open ewes can fall into a new breeding group.
These rams are call teaser rams. We specifically picked a wool breed so their harnesses would stay on a little better, and they are easier to spot!
